(Porlamar)
Home to the Patron of the City Porlamar. It is located in down-town, in front of Plaza Bolívar. It is the largest church on the Island. Its construction began in 1853 and was finished in 1922.

History: The primitive church of Porlamar was destroyed by Frensh pirates in 1555. They burnt it down and took adornments and bells. Until 1853 an house in Calle Guevara served as church in Porlamar.
In 1853 the construction of the new church start, but in 1964 it is still not finished, but religious services are held in it form this date. In 1897 remodelation and restauration began, because the unfinished church started to fall apart literally. It was finally finisted in 1922.
